Former lawmaker Isah Ashiru secures ADC governorship ticket in Kaduna ahead of 2027 election

Isah Ashiru, a former member of the House of Representatives, has won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship primary election in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ashiru, who previously represented the Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency, secured 86,113 votes to clinch the party’s ticket.

Jafaru Sani, a former Commissioner for Education in Kaduna State, finished second with 29,580 votes, while Muhammad San-Bello received 13,559 votes.

Other contenders included Ahmed Tijjani, who polled 13,550 votes, and Shuaibu Mikati, who secured 10,819 votes.

Reacting to his victory in a post on X on Wednesday, Ashiru expressed appreciation to the party leadership and supporters across the state.

“Alhamdulillah, I have just been declared the winner of the ADC gubernatorial primary election for Kaduna State,” he wrote.

“My deepest thanks to the national, state, and ward leadership of ADC, our committed grassroots supporters.

“Together, we will deliver purposeful leadership, Insha Allah.”

Ashiru will now lead the ADC into the Kaduna governorship election in 2027.
