{"id":80,"date":"2026-05-10T07:11:04","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetimesnigeria.com\/?p=80"},"modified":"2026-05-10T07:11:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:11:04","slug":"malami-secures-adc-governorship-nomination-form-ahead-of-2027-kebbi-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetimesnigeria.com\/?p=80","title":{"rendered":"Malami Secures ADC Governorship Nomination Form Ahead of 2027 Kebbi Election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally obtained the governorship nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malami announced his decision in a statement issued on Saturday through his social media platforms, saying he could no longer remain silent over what he described as worsening insecurity, poverty, poor healthcare, educational decline and economic hardship in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former minister alleged that Kebbi State was facing one of the gravest humanitarian and governance crises in Nigeria, citing figures relating to out-of-school children, multidimensional poverty, maternal mortality, malnutrition and insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, more than 67 per cent of children aged between six and 15 are out of school, while over 88 per cent of children in the state reportedly live in multidimensional poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malami also raised concerns about the healthcare sector, stating that maternal mortality remained high and that many rural communities lacked access to adequate antenatal care and other essential health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On insecurity, he said several communities across the state continued to suffer attacks by bandits and kidnappers, forcing many farmers to abandon their farmlands while businesses struggled under fear and uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He accused the current administration of misplacing priorities at a time when residents were battling economic hardship and insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Declaring what he termed a \u201cState of Emergency on Misgovernance\u201d in Kebbi State, the ADC governorship aspirant pledged to prioritise security restoration, improved public education, stronger healthcare delivery, agricultural revival and youth empowerment if elected governor in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malami said his ambition was driven by service, accountability and sustainable development, insisting that the era of what he described as ineffective leadership and \u201cempty propaganda\u201d must come to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also called on residents of Kebbi State to support what he described as a collective mission to rebuild the state into a safer and more prosperous society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere will be no retreat and no surrender in the collective struggle to rescue our state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally obtained the governorship nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State.
