{"id":77,"date":"2026-05-10T07:02:57","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetimesnigeria.com\/?p=77"},"modified":"2026-05-10T07:02:58","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:02:58","slug":"atiku-amaechi-and-hayatu-deen-obtain-adc-presidential-nomination-forms-for-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetimesnigeria.com\/?p=77","title":{"rendered":"Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen Obtain ADC Presidential Nomination Forms for 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contest for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election has intensified after three aspirants \u2014 Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen \u2014 obtained nomination forms between Friday and Saturday, according to Channels Television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mohammed Hayatu-Deen became the first aspirant to collect the party\u2019s presidential nomination form, making him the ADC\u2019s first declared presidential hopeful for the 2027 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the ADC described Hayatu-Deen as \u201ca renowned economist, banker, investor and corporate leader from Borno State\u201d with decades of experience in economic management, financial transformation and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party said the aspirant was received by supporters and party members following the collection of the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has also formally joined the race and is expected to submit his completed nomination documents on Monday at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement posted on its X account, the party said: \u201cH.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ADC added that the development marked \u201canother significant moment in the growing movement for national renewal, democratic inclusion and people-driven leadership within the ADC\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, also collected his nomination form earlier in the week to contest the ADC presidential primary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A senior party figure, John Oyegun, collected the form on Amaechi\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was accompanied by former Minister of Environment Mohammed Abdullahi, Senator Nura Abatemi, Ike Bishop Okoronkwo, the Chief Executive Officer of Bishop Plus Media Services, and other political stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development comes less than a year before the 2027 presidential election and weeks before political parties are expected to conduct conventions to select their candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ADC remains Nigeria\u2019s leading opposition party, although it recently lost two former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who both exited the party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The contest for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election has intensified after three aspirants \u2014 Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen \u2014 obtained nomination forms between Friday and Saturday, according to Channels Television.
